“We Are Not That!” A Focus Group Study with Gifted Adults
DATE: April 22, 2021
TIME: 1:00-2:30pm United States, MDT
WHO: Dr. Maggie Brown
WHERE: New Zealand
This presentation centers around an intriguing focus group study – part of a much larger project looking at the current state of research with gifted adults. “We Are Not That” tells the story of what 15 gifted adults from around the world say about current and historic narratives. In describing their lived experiences, participants identified three sub-themes that will be familiar to many gifted adults. The results of this study offer some challenges to many people working in areas related to giftedness more generally. In this interactive webinar, the researcher and author will situate the work within the bigger project, and describe some of the responses to this focus group study. Q&A will follow. This promises to be a lively discussion!
