Job Title: Part-Time Test Administrators

Location: 8120 Sheridan Blvd., Suite C-111, Westminster, CO 80003

    • Documented coursework on individual assessment

    • Experience testing gifted and twice exceptional individuals

    • Excellent report-writing skills

    • Excellent rapport with children who are perfectionistic, highly active, or fearful of new experiences.

    • Positive attitude toward the gifted.

    • Knowledgeable about Wechsler scales, achievement tests, BASC, and other instruments

  • Testing gifted and multi-exceptional children and adults

  • Compensation is competitive and based on a percentage of the service fee, starting at approximately 25%

Job Title: Advanced Development Journal Editor

The editor of Advanced Development Journal (ADJ) must have at least a master’s degree from an accredited university. They must be a skillful writer, have published themselves, and have knowledge of the field of gifted education and Dabrowski’s Theory of Positive Disintegration. The job requires soliciting manuscripts, consultation with the editorial staff, distribution of submitted papers for peer review, and editorial skills. Good communication skills are important in dealing with authors and reviewers. Computer skills are also needed for manuscript presentation.

    1. Read and send submissions to ADJ associate and assistant editors for their opinion as to whether the submitted manuscript is suitable for review.

    2. Advise and assist authors if changes are needed prior to sending for peer review.

    3. Select three reviewers and send manuscript for peer review.

    4. Consider reviewers advice/recommendations before sending comments to author.

    5. Work with authors if help is needed to implement suggested additions/changes.

    6. If accepted, edit manuscript, looking for language, grammar, spelling, and punctuation errors. When formatted for publication, send page proofs to author for review.

    1. Regularly update the Call for Manuscripts and send to website manager for the ISAD website.

    2. Distribute Calls for Manuscripts at Gifted conferences and Dabrowski Congresses. They should also be provided to Linda and others who are attending such meetings for distribution.

    3. Select presentations from conferences and on line that could lead to manuscripts for ADJ and email authors encouraging written submission.

    4. Research dissertations on giftedness and invite authors to submit manuscripts.

    5. Stay in contact with previous authors and ask them to encourage others to submit their work to ADJ.

    • Maintain and develop the journal’s profile and reputation.

    • Coordinate with GDC/ISAD website manager, regarding posting and presentation of ADJ information.

    • Select/replace ADJ Board members and stay in touch with them regarding their input on issues, e.g., funding opportunities. Check affiliations and addresses prior to publication of next volume.

    • Work with Ronnie Moore, WESType Publishing, Boulder, CO, regarding the formatting of all volume material. Editor prepares and provides all material including front pages, Table of Contents, Editorial Review Panel, Call for Manuscripts, Advanced Development Advisory Board, Editorial written by editor, and back page. Ronnie provides initial formatting for editor’s review. Changes and corrections can be made at this point. Extensive review time is required to assure all material is presented as requested. 

    • Page proofs of formatted manuscripts, poetry, book reviews, and artwork are sent by the editor to authors, reviewers, poets, and artists for their review and acceptance. They must sign Permission to Publish form.

    • Quarterly reporting to the ISAD Board Members of editor’s activity is required.

    • An annual report to the ISAD Board Members is also required.

    • Provide complimentary e-copies of ADJ volumes as they become available to editorial staff, authors, poets, artists, book reviewers, manuscript reviewers, and to ADJ Advisory Board and ISAD Board Members (approximately 60). Their email addresses and a short note of thanks and appreciation for their submission should be written and provided to Jacob and Mary, who will email e-copies of volume to all. Some may request hard copies, which will be copied and placed in folders by Jacob and Mary.

    •  Communicate with interested parties to disseminate ADJ volumes, such as Paige Larkin, Publisher Relations, EBSCO Information Services who are now including Advanced Development in their research database.

    • Consult with Michael Piechowski, Assoc. Editor, and Kathee Jones, Asst. Editor, on most decisions regarding the journal and with Consulting Editor, Linda Silverman, on all major decisions. These include pricing of ADJ Volumes, ADJ Board members, etc.

    •  Send final proofs of manuscripts to Linda for review prior to publication.

    •  Editor writes Editorial for each volume. Or in the case of a Guest Editor, they may choose to write the Editorial. 

    •  After publication, write Description of Volume and add to the file of previous volumes.

    •  After publication, write announcement of new volume for website.
